A Bushcraft Course is a Practical Outdoor Skills Experience

A bushcraft course is a practical outdoor skills experience, similar to a survival camp. It will teach you about safe knife use, shelter building and food gathering.

This online elementary bushcraft course teaches you foundational knowledge and skills that are broadly-applicable in the wilderness. The week-long experience will challenge and inspire you.

Introduction

The online elementary wilderness bushcraft course is the perfect way to immerse yourself in nature and learn essential outdoor survival skills. It gives participants a thorough grounding in the cornerstone knowledge and techniques that will serve as their compass on all wilderness adventures.

It is a skill set that should be in everyone’s toolkit. From finding and purifying water, to shelter building and cooking, it is a set of skills that can be applied wherever you are in the world.

While short bushcraft courses are popular, they can only convey a limited amount of knowledge and skills. A week-long course allows for a much more immersive experience and provides a breadth of learning that simply can’t be achieved in a shorter timeframe.

Shelter

A survival shelter provides protection from harsh weather and a warm place to sleep. It is the first priority in any wilderness survival situation – without shelter it is impossible to stay alive.

Building a survival shelter is one of the most fundamental bushcraft skills. It’s important to learn and practice this skill so you can feel confident in the outdoors and have a good foundation to build on in the future. Shelter is the most critical element of survival, followed by fire and then food. Master these basic skills and you can survive anywhere in the world.

Fire

A safe and efficient fire is fundamental to many wilderness activities. It helps regulate core body temperature, boils water for purification and cooking, signals for rescue, makes tools and scares away the creatures that might otherwise eat you.

We explore a range of tinder and ignition methods to ensure you’re never without an effective way to light a fire. From flint and steel to bow drills and solar energy, you’ll develop your skills until you are a master of fire.

Cooking

The ability to cook is an essential bushcraft skill. Whether you’re grilling freshly-caught fish or boiling wild berries for a warming cup of tea, having the right cooking equipment is vital. Discover more at advanced bushcraft course.

Unlike shorter bushcraft courses, the Elementary Wilderness Bushcraft course provides you with the opportunity to learn fundamental cooking skills over a full week-long immersion into wilderness living. This is a valuable experience that will help you if you ever find yourself in survival situation.

Navigation

The online course provides a complete learning experience covering all the basic elements of wilderness survival. This includes tracking, fungi and ancient technology, carving greenwood tools, primitive shelter building and of course navigation, both with maps and bare hand methods.

Unlike a day-long field course in the woods, an online bushcraft course can be consumed at your own pace – watching the demonstrations, lessons and technical presentations in bite-sized chunks or as one long session. This allows you to focus on the parts of the course that are most interesting or inspiring to you.

Foraging

Whether in survival or non-survival situations, foraging provides the opportunity to add a range of nutrient dense wild foods to your diet. Our foraging courses teach you how to safely identify and prepare a variety of edible species.

We teach you how to use what is available to you in the wilderness; from sourcing tinder, cordage and firewood, to identifying and using woodland plants for food, medicinal purposes and tool making. These skills are not just useful for those who live in or travel to remote areas, they can be used anywhere in the world!

We also cover hunting and trapping techniques to complement your foraging skills and further extend your wilderness capabilities. This is an essential part of bushcraft training.
